I wasn't intrigued by the design when I first saw it, but I recently picked one up, and it really does have personality to it. The handle design is distinct among my swords, and it's just got the touch of exotic-ness to it that makes a minifig stand out. A good weapon for Sinbad, or a caravan guard.
If you are looking for a scimitar like blade without any frills for a low level monster or character, this is perfect.
