Minifigure Shield - Lantern Shield

It's time for a story. While searching for obscure weapons, Ryan came across this gem. They would light a fire on the back of the shield and then open the little window in hopes that the fire would blind their opponent and give them an opening to strike. Then he created this custom LEGO® shield to resemble it.  The end. I realize now that the story isn't that great. Sorry about the let down.

Lantern Shield – Perfect for Moria Goblins

Posted by Minficationist on 12th May 2019

I use those for my Moria Goblins. They need a small shield in confined spaces, they need some light and those odd spikes come in handy for throwing, stabbing.

    What an oddball!

I'd just as soon have had just the disc part of the shield, but this piece will definitely provide more variety on your battlefield with its distinctive outline and inverse-parabolic plate.. The shield is smaller than it looks. one of the other reviewers has some great ideas for using these. At $0.25 each, these are well worth it.

    What is this?

Posted by Jeremy Roney on 26th Feb 2019

If you're reading this, and like me you're uncertain just what this is - it's actually based on a shield duelists used in Renaissance Italy for night duels. The top "hole" is a lantern that acts like a flashlight, the central hole is for a spike (used to catch an opponent's blade), and the two blades are meant to represent an extendable blade and several additional spikes the real weapon has. All in all, an excellent representation of a very niche and amazing weapon.

    different item....

I got this in polished gold and while it is a different sort of item, I am not sure which character to place it with.

    Surprisingly usefull shield

Posted by Unknown on 27th Nov 2015

Bought a couple of these and found them to be so useful I had to get more. Extremely versatile and a great choice for assassins, skirmishers, lightly armored elite warriors, and anyone else who needs every piece of equipment to be multi-functional.

    Odd bit,

Posted by Christopher on 6th Jul 2015

I'm not sure what to make of this piece. It's odd. I mean, a perfectly sweet small shield, but with two ... I dunno, spears? Swords tips? ... poking out. The look makes me raise an eyebrow. But I was intrigued by the other stuff it offers: the center cap can hold horns or other decorative bits (including decapitated mini fig heads!), and there's a smaller hole that fits helmet plumes or... ok, that's about it. So, I have no idea what the use for something like this is. At any rate, it *does* make for a fierce-looking shield for my evil fantasy warriors, what with the pointy bits and all, so I grabbed a few.
