It was a wild weekend in.........LEGO accessory match-ups. There have been multiple upsets in the BrickWarriors bracket, but all four #1 seeds have made it to the Sweet 16. 

The most shocking upset was in the Modern/Sci-Fi category where the #2 Austrian Bull Pup lost to the #15 Riot Shield in the first round. 

(Full disclosure, I actually had the ABP winning the whole damn thing, so I'm really glad I didn't put any money on this contest. Talk about a busted bracket!)

But let's start with the category that  had the most boring results. In the New Accessories category, after a big win by the #12 Executioner Axe over the #5 Wolf Pelt Helm and some nice wins by lower seeds like the #10 Plate Armor and #11 Lantern, the second round wiped out any potential Cinderella stories. The four remaining accessories in this category are the top 4 seeds: the Arming Sword, Samurai Helmet, Samurai Armor, and Naginata. Obviously our Samurai accessories are well represented.

In the Ancient History/Fantasy category it was a similar story. The biggest win was the #13 Gladius over the #4 Spartan Shield. But in the second round, the remaining top seeds prevailed: the #1 Roman Helmet, #2 Spartan Helmet, #3 Spartan Cape, and #5 Lorica Segmentata. This category is shaping up to be a battle between the ancient cities of Rome and Sparta. 

The Viking/Castle category has had much more interesting results. The #14 Plague Doctor Mask shocked the #3 Hidden Blade in the first round and the #2 Viking Armor and #4 Quiver were both eliminated in the second round. That leaves the #1 Jousting Helmet, #5 City Watch Armor, #6 Vambraces, and #7 Viking Axe. 

In the Modern/Sci-Fi category, five of the eight first round match-ups had the lower seed winning. Although the #1 Vengeance AR and #4 Skewer SMG shocked no one by making it the the Sweet 16, the second match-up in this category between the #10 Bullet Factory and the #11 Deadly Cricket means there will be hope for a Cinderella story still in the Elite 8.

As for our fan-submitted brackets, seven people still have a shot at winning it all, with the current top scores ranging from 38 to 46 points after the first two rounds. 

Right now Steven N. holds a slim lead over the competition with 46 points accumulated. His total was bolstered nicely by correctly picking 7 of the 8 match-ups in the Ancient History/Fantasy region's first round and by correctly predicting all 4 accessories from that category to make it to the Sweet 16. Unfortunately for Steven, his prediction of the ABP winning it all will not come true so there's still hope for someone else to take the lead.
