Typically associated with Knights due to its popularity in jousting (it looks fantastic with the pictured Pig Snout Bascinet or Great Helm), the structure/idea behind reinforced armor remains today in Modern Military equipment. It has entered its second act as being used for protection against shrapnel when it was found to be ineffective against actual gunfire whether that was in the earlier development of guns such as muskets or the standard automatic high powered rifles we now know.
