We're not fans of casting aspersions. But we're all about casting nets! Go ahead and put this in your pile of "unique" custom LEGO weapons. The Retiarius Net is, in fact, a weapon- an historical one at that! But it's also a bit of an oddity that can transform itself for many applications. A Retiarius was a Roman Gladiator who fought primarily with a net, a trident, and a dagger (think, Pugio). If you think this fellow might be disadvantaged by his outfit of weaponry, you're not wrong. The net-fighter, however, was supposed to be far more agile and speedy than his opponent, making up for his lack of armor and deadly weapons. The net is intended for skilled fighters; we don't recommend getting one for your less-than-superior figs (at least not until they've trained up a bit). But we do recommend getting it for your seafaring figs, so they might use it to catch fish on their watery journeys. Which application do you prefer for the Retiarius Net?
