LEGO Gun of the Week - Browning M1918 BAR by lego_gun_master

For a special 100th anniversary edition, we feature the Browning 1918 LMG. Created in, you guessed it, 1917, by, you guessed it again, John Browning, this walking-fire, light machine gun was designed for the American soldier engaged in trench warfare during the Great War. This LMG was a gas-operated, rising bolt lock, chambered in .03-06 Springfield. It had good potential with its ability to fire over 500 rounds per minute. The aforementioned walking-fire refers to the then newly adopted use of lighter guns slung across backs with a fabric sling and shot from the hip rather than the shoulder. This seemingly indestructible weapon was a reliable tool in a soldiers hands, but it was also time consuming and costly to produce. It's sturdy, possibly over engineered body held up well and likely contributed to its popularity through many American and international wars. The BAR met its official end of use during the Vietnam War, but would go on to be used in Thailand, Laos, Cyprus, and Cambodia. Instagram user lego_gun_master, used some artistic license in making this special red and white, LEGO version; it makes for a convincing mantle piece. Once again, great work lego_gun_master!
