The Tec-9 is officially a blowback operated, semi-automatic handgun chambered for the 9x19mm round. Blowback is a self-loading method in which the motion of the fired cartridge casing propels the motion of the bolt as a new round is loaded. Its initial magazine design, by Intratec, could hold between 10 and 72 cartridges. Even though this gun has found some popularity in pop-culture, it's never been a go-to for the gun enthusiast community thanks to its propensity for jamming and poor accuracy. Its reputation also took a dive after this gun was used in a number of highly public shootings. The company fizzled out in the new millennium, but Tec-9s can easily be found on the private market.
