This week's MOC is brought to us by Carl on Flickr and is a precursor to a great battle between men and monsters based on Warhammer lore (a popular fantasy tabletop war game). True to its origins, this recreation of The Long March to Black Fire Pass depicts the Empire setting up to defend against an invasion by monsters known as Greenskins which included trolls, Ogres, Orcs, and Goblins among other Fantasy frightening creatures. Led by their emperor Karl Franz and his mystical War Hammer, the Empire had to traverse the World's Edge Mountains as you can see in the scenery here to make their way to the Black Fire Pass, the chokepoint between the Empire and the lands to the south. 

Although they were marching towards a degree of certain death, no need to worry -- a good number of these guys in the front of the formation were outfitted properly with steel Roman Helmets and black Pig Snout Bascinets!
